Throughout Januari - July 2024

MERO Foundation provides a chance for an active students to participate in internship or research program during the period of January – July 2024. The students may apply for 1-month up to 6-months internships.

  • Isolation and purification of marine invertebrate symbiont bacteria.
  • Microbial identification with DNA (PCR).
  • Antibacterial testing using crude extracts of natural products.
  • Liquid extraction of a bacterial culture.
  • Fractionation and purification of extracts from natural product.

Requirements:

  • Active student for at least 5 semesters.
  • Have basic knowledge of microbiology, biochemistry, biology and chemistry of natural products.
  • Interested in learning and working in the laboratory.

Notes:

  • Free research fee.
  • Accommodation and laboratory entrance fees are not covered.
  • The research period can be chosen according to the topics to be taken.
  • Students will received the internship certificate (min. 1 month of intern program).
  • Research data can be used for the research final assignment.

CLOSED Internship Program: Coral-Killing Sponges

Throughout Januari - July 2024

MERO Foundation opens opportunities for students to carry out internships or research in coral-killing sponges on the topics of:

  • Coral reef ecology/histology.
  • Biochemistry of coral-killing sponge.
  • Molecular identification of coral.
  • Morphological identification of spicule sponge using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope)
  • Antibacterial assay of crude extract from coral-killing sponge against pathogen bacteria.
  • Antimicrobial activities of coral-killing sponge associated bacteria.
  • Optimization of mass culture for biological activities of bacteria.
  • Optimization of microbial growth response for environmental conditions.

This programs open from June 2023 – July 2024. The students may apply for 1-month up to 6-months internships.

MERO Foundation is looking for an assistant manager to join us as a new team!
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum education of bachelor’s or master’s degree in medicine, biology, marine science, management, bioinformatics or related life science field involving microbiology and statistics.
  • Experience in similar work for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Has strong managerial skills, communication, and capability in academic writing.
  • English proficiency in both verbal and in written.
  • Preferably experience with laboratory skills and is a certified diver.

MERO Foundation encourages sharing strategies and contributing to the spread of knowledge for Indonesia’s generation of scientists. In this spirit, we are holding a “Call for Proposals” and invite undergraduate (S1), postgraduate (S2), doctoral research (S3) students, lecturers, and researchers to send in research proposals.
