Internship Program

MERO Foundation opens opportunities for students to do research internships, where participants will be involved in a research group to work on one or more research activities under the guidance of MERO professors, practitioners, or scientists. Participants are also allowed to work on their own research topics.

Internship Topic

The availability of the latest internship topics can be asked in advance via email at contact@merofoundation.org and or attached as follows:

  • Optimization of mass culture methods and microbial growth responses to environmental conditions.
  • Molecular identification of marine bacteria and marine invertebrates.
  • Morphological identification of marine bacteria and marine invertebrates in the Tulamben area using SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope).
  • Extraction and visualization of compounds and bacteria associated with marine invertebrates (marine sponges, nudibranchs, and bryozoans).
  • Diving Program: nudibranch abundance survey and coral reef conservation program (monitoring and transplantation). *
  • Optimization of microplastic observations in sediments.
  • Histological studies of marine invertebrates (sponges, hard corals, and nudibranchs).
  • An education program for local children about the basics of marine and English and plastic waste management in coastal areas is also offered.

*Must have a diving license.

Internship Procedure & Requirement

Internship Application Procedure

Requirement:

  • Physically and mentally healthy, have no medical history that can interfere with internship activities.
  • Willing to follow all the provisions and rules that apply at MERO.
  • Send a mini proposal about the research interests you want to do at MERO that has been known and approved by the Academic Supervisor at the home university.
  • Register with the MERO Foundation accompanied by a curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Bring a cover letter approved by the head of the department/dean of the faculty.

Files related to internship requirements, such as CVs, Study Result Documents, Internship Application Letters from the Faculty, and Mini Proposals, can be sent via email to contact@merofoundation.org.

Please include the internship date (how long) while at the MERO Foundation.
