MERO Foundation stands for “Marine Education & Research Organisation“. We aim to be one of the most important and valued research centers in Indonesia.
Our vision is to become a center of marine science and tourism based on eco-friendly environment and conservation.
Our missions are:
- To become a center of marine research development;
- To provide the younger generation with marine insight;
- To implement realisation and responsibility towards the environment, and;
- To support and teach the local community.
MERO Team
MERO Foundation was founded by a group of national and international researchers in the Tulamben area on the northeast coast of Bali, with the same abilities and interests to develop the potential of the community, especially in the field of marine science. MERO Foundation has trained technicians and researchers, they are experts in their fields to assist the research and testing process.

Dr. Rahmadi Prasetyo, ST., MT.
Founder
Dr. Rahmadi Prasetyo is the part of teaching staff at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Science & Technology, Dhyana Pura University, Bali. He has a Doctorate Degree in Tourism from Udayana University, Bali. He has a Post Graduate Degree – Master of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from Sepuluh November Institute, Surabaya and a Bachelor in Marine Science and Technology from Diponegoro University, Semarang.
Dr. Rhesi Kristiana, S.pi., M.Si.
Chairman
Dr. Rhesi Kristiana has a Doctorate Degree and Master’s Degree in Coastal Resource Management from Diponegoro University, Semarang. Her Bachelor Degree is in Fisheries Resource Utilization from the Department of Fisheries, Diponegoro University. Her thesis is on antibacterial activity of the bacteria Symbiont Gorgonian against MRSA. She has participated in collaborative research project in the Netherlands and in France.
Prof. Ocky Karna Radjasa, Ph.D.
Controller
Prof. Ocky Karna Radjasa is currently Director of Research and Community Services at the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, in Jakarta. He has a Ph.D. in Aquatic Biosciences from the University of Tokyo, Japan, and a Master’s Degree in Biology from the McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. His Bachelor’s Degree is in Biology from Soedirman University, Purwokerto, Indonesia.
Dr. I Wayan Mudianta, S.Pd., M.Phil., Ph.D.
Secretary
Dr. I Wayan Mudianta is currently a researcher and part of the teaching staff at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences, Ganesha University of Education, Bali. He has a Ph.D. and Master’s Degree in Philosophy obtained from the University of Queensland, Australia. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Education from the Ganesha University of Education.

Sakti Imam Muchlissin, S.Kel., M.Si
Assistant Manager
Sakti Imam Muchlissin is a researcher, an independent diver with a rescue diver license (SSI), and an independent consultant at CNH Laboratory, Semarang. He has a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Marine Science from Diponegoro University, Semarang. His thesis is on the distribution of microplastics in coral reef ecosystems in Karimunjawa and the potential for degradation of symbion fungus.
Ni Kadek Dita Cahyani, Ph.D
Researcher
Ni Kadek Dita Cahyani is currently a researcher and part of the teaching staff at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Science, Diponegoro University, Semarang. She has a Ph.D in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EEB) Department, the University of California, Los Angeles. She takes the Master Program of Environmental Study at Udayana University, Bali. Her Bachelor’s Degree is a Biology Faculty, at Gadjah Mada University, Jogjakarta.
Bernadeta Pingkan Larasati, S.TP., M.TP
Head of Laboratory
Bernadeta Pingkan Larasati has a Master’s Degree in Food Technology from Soegijapranata University, Semarang. Her thesis and research focus on the potential of microalgae and macroalgae to enhance flavor and on identifying molecular peptides in macroalgae that contribute to taste activity.
Fadillaisyia Riandani Putri, S.Pi
Research Assistant
Fadillaisyia Riandani Putri earned her Bachelor’s in Fisheries from Diponegoro University, Semarang. She is currently advancing her expertise as a Master’s student in Marine Science at IPB University, Bogor, and an awardee of the Degree by Research Program from BRIN. Dilla is deeply involved in laboratory work, focusing on microbiology and chemistry processes. As one of our staff, she also contributes to the Local Development and underwater activity program by MERO Foundation.
Kharisma Ayu Zeina Halisah, S.Pi
Local Development Staff
Kharisma Ayu Zeina Halisah has a bachelor’s in Aquatic Resources of Management from Diponegoro University. Her thesis is about the habitat of coral recruitment. She is interested in marine ecology, diving activity, and molecular. Not only does she focus on research, but she also loves to engage in activities with locals.
Ni Nyoman Ayu Indah Trisna Yanthi, S.Tr.T
Research Assistant
Ni Nyoman Ayu Indah Trisna Yanthi has an Applied Bachelor’s Degree in Power Plant Engineering Systems from Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya (EEPIS). Her final project is on the effects of fuel replacement on the Steam Power Plant. She has joined the thermal laboratory at the EEPIS as a research assistant.
